CPanel: Initial E-Mail and Account Setup

Your initial hosting account and e-mail setup is easy with cPanel.

You will need to be logged into your cPanel console to complete these steps.  You can access cpanel by apending "/cpanel" to the end of your domain name.  For example: http://www.yourdomain.com/cpanel.  Your login credentials are available via your client center.  If you do not already know your hosting accounts username and password, you can find it via these steps.

1) Login to your client center.

2) Click Hostin Accounts.

3) Click "more details" for the hosting account in question.

4) Scroll down and you'll see your user name and password.  Alternatively there should be a link that will take you directly into your cpanel.

NOW, the introduction to cPanel and getting started.

Getting started with CPanelStep-one: Go through the getting started dialog. This will take about 5-10 minutes and will give you a good understanding of the basics of the new panel. It will also guide you through setting up your default e-mail account. IF YOU WERE PREVIOUSLY HAVING SPAM PROBLEMS, I reccomend you set your default to disgard (:blackhole)

Step-two: Open the video's dialog box. There are three sections. Click on the 'Mail" section. You will be most interested in e-mail accounts, and e-mal forwarders. If you previously have mail come into your domain, and forward to another account like aol, yahoo, or something else, you'll want to setup forwarding accounts here. Watch the video, then click the appropriate mail icon in the cPanel. If you will be using web-mail or a pc client (outlook...) you'll want an e-mail account. Watch the video and click the appropriate setup icon.

Twenty minutes is all it should take for you to understand the basic file structure of your new account, and get youre e-mail accounts setup.
